Our farm ducks are quacking a happy tune now that they are free to roam the barnyard. They are staying close by for now, but we anticipate that very soon they will find their way to the pond to ‘freshen up’ a bit after a long, cold winter and wet spring.
The Parma Area Historical Society (PAHS) depends on the generosity of our farm friends for support and ask you to consider joining as a member of PAHS. Your membership helps us to offer a place to visit with the farm animals that reside at the homestead. In addition to the farm animals, we maintain periodic displays in the Gibbs House (circa 1940) and offer handmade items, ‘penny’ candy, and other sundries in the Country Store.
We are an all-volunteer organization. All membership funds and donations are used to feed and care for the farm animals and maintain the homestead, the barn, the fences and so much more. On any farm, there is always something that needs repair or work that need to be done.
Individual membership is only $10.00 annually. A family membership or sustaining membership is $25.00. Join today and help us keep the Homestead a viable place for all the enjoy!
All PAHS members will be invited and encouraged to attend our annual meeting to be held on April 19, 2020 in the Stearns cabin.
And of course, we want you to stop by and visit. Opening day is May 17, 2020.
It’s time to get organized and get your dates set for your classroom or group farm tour at Stearns Homestead.
Stearns Homestead is a historic farm in Parma with over 75 farm animals who reside at the Homestead, not including all the wild ducks and geese that fly in and out.
The homestead is a 48 acre site located in the heart of Parma, Ohio and features two historic homes, a Yankee-style barn and several out buildings to house some of the ducks, geese, chickens, goats, sheep and some horses.
We offer groups of 10 or more a 1 .5 hour farmhand guided tour weekdays to visit with the farm animals and provide feed for everyone in your group to feed the animals as part of the per person fee of $4.00.
Pack a lunch or snack and plan to use our picnic tables or if available our cabin for another 30 minutes or so for your group to extend your stay.
We are currently booking group tours for spring and summer 2019.
