Happenin’s

Stearns holds many special events. When an event is held, there are hot dogs and hamburgers sold as well as slushie’s sold by the youth group. Some special events may include crafts and games for the kids, pony rides, animal showcases by our youth group, tours of the two museums and just sitting down and having lunch on a bench or by the pond.

All events are 12 noon to 4pm unless listed otherwise.

Opening Day

The animals at Stearns are looking forward to seeing you all at opening day! We will have the Cleveland Mounted Police Department and the
Metroparks Mounted Ranger Department, complete with their horses, as guests for opening day! There is a parade scheduled for the afternoon at 1:30pm and afterwards the officers will be in the front pasture so everyone can visit with them and the police horses! We will have more opening day news soon, but mark your calendars so you don’t miss this fun event! The parade will begin at 1:30 at the Homestead and continue down Ridge Road to W. Ridgewood turn left and continue to Ames Road, turn left and continue to Day Drive, turn left and continue to Ridge Road and right turn back to the Homestead. We will have many horses in the parade, the Homestead Hoofers Youth Club and another guest: the Central Ohio K-9 Unit. All will be available at the Homestead front pasture after the parade ends. More News!!!!!— Want to bring back some memories? Remember when you used to go shopping at specialty hat shops for those spring bonnets instead of the department stores? Well join us at the Homestead for a display of bonnets from the past in the Gibbs House. They will be on display throughout the month of May as a special event- and while there take a tour of both the museums and learn more about the original settlers in the Parma area. Friday Night at the Farm

We will be hosting the Boy Scouts who will be conducting a flag retirement ceremony for the evening. Visitors may also watch the animals being fed and maybe participate in the feeding. Pony rides will also be available at $5.00 each. Come to have dinner and stay for a relaxing evening at the farm.

come visit your favorites from last year and some new vendors. Shopping begins on June 22 and runs through Oct. 5. EVERY SATURDAY ONLY. Farm market is held in the front pasture from 9am until 1pm.

Canning Class

On Saturday, July 27th at 1 PM we will be offering a Canning Class in the Stearns Cabin, taught by Lynette Goard. Lynette is from the Ohio State University Extension Service. The class fee is $10.00. The class size is limited, so if you are interested, please call Debbie at (440) 882-6234 for more information or to sign up. We hope to see you there!
