On Saturday, July 27th at 1 PM we will be offering a Canning Class in the Stearns Cabin, taught by Lynette Goard. Lynette is from the Ohio State University Extension Service. The class fee is $10.00. The class size is limited, so if you are interested, please call Debbie at (440) 882-6234 for more information or to sign up. We hope to see you there!

Donations Needed

WE ARE IN DESPERATE NEED OF FUNDS TO PURCHASE FEED AND BEDDING FOR THE RESIDENT ANIMALS!!!!!!! We are only open during the warm months of May until October each year. During that period we attempt to gather donations to get us through the
winter months in caring for all the animals. However, sometimes we fall short due to bad weather during events and rising food costs. This is one of
those times. We desperately are in need of funds to get us to May 19 (opening day). If possible we are asking for any donations to purchase food
and bedding for our animal residents. We have no paid employees- everyone is a volunteer, so all proceeds go directly to caring for the animals on the
farm. If you would like to donate please send donations to:

Exciting Opening Day news!

The animals at Stearns are looking forward to seeing you all at opening day on Sunday, May 19th! We will have the Cleveland Mounted Police Department and the Metroparks Mounted Police Department, complete with their horses, as guests for opening day! There is a horse ride scheduled for the afternoon, and afterwards the officers will be in the front pasture so everyone can visit with them and the police horses! We will have more opening day news soon, but mark your calendars so you don’t miss this fun event!

We’re excited to have a new event at Stearns this year! Please make plans to attend an evening with Alex Bevan on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013 at Stearns Homestead. There will be a concert from 4:00 – 6:00 PM with dinner available. Ticket prices and more information will be available soon, so keep checking our website!

Farm Tours

Its time to schedule your school/group visit to the Homestead! All ages are welcome. Farm volunteers provide a barnyard tour to meet the farm animals. The barnyard tour includes an age-appropriate craft or book reading and feeding the animals. The group may also select to bring their “brown bag” lunch and eat at the farm. The farm visit is approximately 2 hours. Cost per person is $3.00. Below is a downloadable Farm Group Visit Request form that you can use to e-mail to us to schedule your visit.

come visit your favorites from last year and some new vendors. Shopping begins on June 22 and runs through Oct. 5. EVERY SATURDAY ONLY. Farm market is held in the front pasture from 9am until 1pm.
